Q1:
What are some reasons stated in the article why some people choose to have body art like tattoos or piercings done on parts of their body?
Answer: There are several reasons why some people choose to have body art done on parts of their body. Firstly, they wanted to be different from other people, so as to be able to draws others attention to themselves. Furthermore, a lot of young people are trying to escape the run-of-the-mill.
Secondly, for some, it is also a means through which they express themselves and stand-out from the crowd. They want release their pent up stress and pressure, and also to served as a way to conform to their sub-group if they are part of them.
Lastly, some younger people tends to get easily influenced. They want to try out new fascinating fashion fads so as not to regret it.
Q2:
(a) What are some impressions you would form of a person whose body is covered with tattoo?
Answer: The first impression that I would form of a person whose body is covered with tattoo is that they are people which are very brave and may be involved in gangs. They may find it cool and nice, but to me, I find it scary and ugly. Thus, if I see someone with tattoos all over his/her body, I will stand further away from him/her and try to keep a distance away from him/her, even if he/she is not involved in gangs. Furthermore, it is also a painful experience and to pay a heavy price just for these, which may bring scars or infections on their body.
(b)Would you consider getting a tattoo in future? Why?
Answer: Since I find tattoos scary and ugly, I will never get a tattoo and will not even consider getting one. It not only makes me the centre of attraction, but others will also think bad about me. Furthermore, I will also suffer a lot of pain and have to pay a large sum to get one. And if I got one and regret it one day, I will have another painful experience once again so as to remove it and the worst of all, having a scar on my body. Hence, since I detest tattoos and have to go through so much, I will never get any tattoos.-DONE-Labels: ST reflection week 3
